Super 8 league semi-finals underway this evening
The GFC ground is right now buzzing with action as the Banks DIH-sponsored Presidents Beer super 8 Lague semi-finals got underway. Santos and Sunburst Camptowns are right now battling it out and in one hour’s time, the Army will look to arrest Fruta Conquerors in what is expected to be a thriller. In the quarter-finals, Santos edged out Northern Rangers 3-2, while Camptown Sunburst had a 2-nil victory over hosts GFC.
And Guyana’s Mystery lady boxer, Shondell Alfred, is confident ahead of her WBC Super Flyweight clash, in just under a month’s time. She will fight Zulina Munoz for the vacant title.
This title clash has long been in the making and the GBBC has been working hard to bring such a prestigious fight here. President Peter Abdool said, it is a great opportunity for Alfred and Guyana.
And the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA), will take boxing to Berbice with the staging of an Under 16 card there, this weekend. The card is being sponsored by DDL, under its Gatorade brand and will see the preliminaries being run off tomorrow, followed by the finals on Sunday.
According to the organisers over 50 boxers are expected to match gloves.
And the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall will be the venue for a show, the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation is calling Rise of the machines show. Bodybuilders will strut their stuff and flex their muscles in what should be an event full of excitement for bodybuilding fans. Some 30 competitors will be vying for the prizes and awards at stake and the action gets underway at 7.
