Chairman of the Linden Technical Committee resigns
The technical team set up to examine the electricity rate hike issue at Linden, has hit a snag, with the resignation of the Chairman of that Technical Committee, Narvon Persaud.
Persaud tendered his resignation without giving any clear reason behind the move. The Committee was set up back in August, as a direct result of the negotiations that brought an end to the Linden protests. Region 10 Chairman, Sharma Solomon, said, it may be a case of frustration since the committee has not been getting access to vital documents as part of its review.
With the Chairman of that committee resigning, the work of the committee would be put on hold, Solomon said, he intends to write Dr. Roger Luncheon on the issue.
The Government and region 10 officials, had moved to set up the committee to examine the electricity rate at Linden and other issues relating to electricity in the township. An economic committee should have also been set up.
