Police investigators identify a person of interest in the execution-style killing of Ricardo Rodrigues
Police investigators say that they have identified a person of interest in the execution-style killing of Ricardo Rodrigues, however the force is not ready right now to reveal who that person is. The Crime Chief would only say that the person of interest believed to be behind the murder is a Guyanese. A number of witnesses have been questioned in connection with the case and the force is said to be pursuing a number of leads. The Crime Chief, however made it clear that there was no break in the case just yet.
Ricardo Rodrigues, who was named by the US and local authorities as someone who was part of the criminal drug enterprise, was gunned down at the Pit Stop food bar at the GMRSC compound, in the Thomas Lands area. Three other men were shot, but they all survived.
Rodrigues who was armed at the time, may have tried to fend off the execution but it remains unclear whether he was able to fire a shot.
A gun was found close to his body that appears to have belonged to him. He was shot multiple times to the upper body and to the head.
One of those gunshots ripped apart a section of his lower face, sources who saw the body reported.
Just last week Rodrigues turned himself into the police, after a wanted bulletin was issued for him in connection with a large find of high powered arms and ammunition at Lethem. He was questioned and released one day later on $100,000 station bail. That was just last week.
