Agricola residents protest outside the Georgetown Magistrate Court
It was high drama outside of the Georgetown Magistrate Court today as protests by angry Agricola residents forced the adjournment of Court.
The residents and Shaquille Grant’s relatives were objecting to what they see as preferential treatment given to murder suspect policeman, Gerald Wallace. Wallace is one of three policemen fingered in the murder of the 17-year-old Agricola Teenager. When Wallace arrived at the court today, he was in the front seat of a police vehicle and the residents took offence to that, saying, that what applies for one, should go for all.
Tension boiled over as the police summoned back up, this further angered the residents, who decided to block Middle Street, between Main and Carmichael.
And when the police were trying to take away Wallace from the lock ups, the residents were having none of it and held out that he should be grouped with other inmates and placed at the back of the police van.
Shonnette Adams, mother of the deceased, said she is still holding the police accountable for the disappearance of the two policemen.
She said she is disappointed at the efforts that are being made to bring them to justice.
Today was the 2nd day of the hearing and the police were given more time to locate their two wanted ranks before the matter proceeds.
On the run are Lance Corporal Warren Blue and Jamal Lewis. The law enforcement agencies said, that they have alerted their international counterparts to be on the look out for the two policemen.
