Bar admits two new lawyers
She has the passion to help correct the ills in society and that is what has driven newly admitted Attorney-at-Law, Natasha Backer, to pursue studies in law and specialize in the area of criminal law.
Backer is the daughter of Deputy speaker of the National Assembly and APNU Parliamentarian, Deborah Backer and Former Manager of the GNCB, Steve Backer.
Her petition was presented to Justice Dawn Gregory by Attorney-at–Law, Sandra Kurtzois, who chronicled the pursuit of Backer’s dream to follow the career of her Mother. For her part, Backer said it was not easy but it was the support of her family and friends, she was able to make it through.
Also witnessing the proceedings, were Trinidadian Madame Justice Pemberton and Justice Roxanne George.
Also being admitted to the bar was former Police officer Dexter Todd. Todd served as an assistant to Former Commissioner, the now deceased, Henry Greene and credited his passion for the profession and a desire to serve Guyana as the chief reasons for pursuing a career in Law. His petition was presented to Justice Brassington Reynolds by Attorney-at-Law and APNU Member of Parliament, Joseph Harmon.
