Mechanic knifed to death in Alberttown while assisting police to arrest suspect
The police are hunting the suspect in that fatal stabbing of Alberttown Mechanic, Brian Assannah.
Assanah, a 20-year-old Albertown, Bourda mechanic; felt the wrath of a man who the police were attempting to arrest late Sunday night. The man was stabbed in his neck and succumbed to his injuries at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to the police investigations so far revealed, that a report of threatening language was made against the suspect at the Alberttown Police Station earlier Sunday. He was seen riding past the police station and was challenged by a Rural Corporal on duty at the station who attempted to arrest him. However the suspect resisted and rode away.
The release added that the suspect was pursued by the Rural Corporal and a Police Constable who caught up with him at Fourth and Light Streets, Alberttown, a scuffle ensued as he again resisted being arrested. The police release stated that Brian Assannah who was in the vicinity came up and advised the suspect that he should go with the police, whereupon the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed him to his neck and escaped on the bicycle.
Assannah would have celebrated his 21st birthday on Wednesday.
