Both West Indies male and female cricket teams, face Australian opponents in the 20/20 World Cup semi-finals

Both West Indies male and female cricket teams, face Australian opponents in the 20/20 World Cup semi-finals, on Friday in Sri Lanka.

It is the first time that West Inides male and female teams have made it to the semi-finals in the same tournament and according to Darren Sammy, his men will be carrying the hopes of the Caribbean on their shoulders, just like the region did in the Olympics, when everyone supported each other. Sammy paid tribute to the work Coach Ottis Gibson has been doing with the team, saying they now have more confidence in themselves. Assistant coach, Toby Radford, has also called on the team to remain calm under pressure, just as they did in their last match against New Zealand.

Women’s captain, Merissa Aguilera, whose squad will play in the early match, said her girls are very anxious to do well. She said, they will be looking to capitalize on their strong spin options to defeat the defending champions.
