Guyexpo to be launched tomorrow
In just about 24 hours, the Exhibition Centre at Sophia, will look very different as exhibitors race to finish their construction in time for the 6 pm start. Several of the large manufacturing, as well as Beverage Companies, are very visible on the main lawns of the site, with the smaller companies, occupying slots in the main Auditorium and other areas constructed to accommodate them.
The Acting Minister of Tourism, Irfaan Ali, spoke of many of the arrangements being put in place for the event. Ticket selling will be done at various supermarkets around Georgetown, as well as Linden, West Coast Demerara, Berbice and other locations in an effort to ease the crowds queuing up for tickets near the venue. Stage shows will also start at nine and end at midnight and the noise level will be contained to certain standards set by the organisers. Beverages will be served in plastic cups only and there will be monitoring of underage buying of alcohol.
The Event will run until Sunday and the Ministry continues to receive sponsorship from corporate Guyana. Telephone Company Digicel, used the opportunity to hand over a cheque for 3 and a half million dollars to the Minister as their contribution to the event, and according to public Relation Officer at Digicel, Shonnet Moore, there will be a whole lot in store for those attending the Exhibition.
