Government has no commitment to reform Guyana Police Force, says APNU executive member
The Government has no commitment to reform the Guyana Police force, that’s the view of the APNU. Executive Member of the APNU, Lance Carberry, on Wednesday said, that the mysterious disappearance of the two policemen leaves many unanswered questions. He added that this development once again underscores that there are some out of control officers who behave as though they are above the Law. The two policemen were implicated in the murder of Agricola teen, Shaquille Grant, who was shot three times by the law men.
Opposition Parliamentarians moved a No Confidence Motion against the Home Affairs Minister, after repeated calls were made for his resignation.
Some persons also believe that some of those rouge elements in the force are being given protection.
Relatives of the slain youth are also questioning who is in charge of issuing orders in the force. In their view, there is outside interference; Carberry expressed similar sentiments.
The Guyana Police Force is still to bring charges against the officers said to be involved in the murder of the 17-year-old teen.
