Ministry of Education and UNICEF launches Education Expo
The symbolic release of balloons, marked the opening of an Education exposition, launched by the Ministry of Education and UNICEF. Dubbed the Inclusive Education Expo, several educational institutions including the University of Guyana and some special needs institutions, were on hand to give information and answer other queries by those visiting the Expo.
Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand, used the opportunity to tell all that Guyana has been making strides in the area of special needs education, referring to praise heaped upon her Ministry by Unicef and UNESCO, as testament to the fact. She did not spare the media for what she believes is the focus on negative issues. She was referring to the textbooks scandal.
UNICEF’s Audrey Rodrigues, also spoke of the need to ensure inclusivity in the delivery of education, noting that Guyana’s Education Ministry is on the ball.
The Regional Report on out-of-school children prepared jointly by UNICEFand UNESCO, was also handed over to Minister Manikchand.
