University of Guyana’s Roteract Club launches literacy programme for primary school students

The Rotaract Club of the University of Guyana  has launched an ambitious programme which they hope will improve the academic skills of pupils attending the Victoria Primary School, on the East Coast of Demerara. According to Kwesi Elliot, Community Service Director of the Club, the target group will attend special classes on Saturday.

The project is receiving generous support from Scotiabank and Furniture giant Courts is also expected  to come on board as the other half of Corporate sponsorship. We spoke with Amanda St. Aubyn, Country Manager of Scotia Bank Guyana, and she said they were happy to support such a project because it fits into one of the important areas of  focus for the bank.

There will be evaluations of the project every 3 months.
