Golden Jaguars to face El Savador at Providence, while power-lifter Stoby on a mission to win gold
All Guyana will be cheering their Golden Jaguars in 24 hours time, at the National Stadium, at Providence, when they face El Salvador in their return leg of their FIFA qualifying encounter.
At a press conference earlier today , Head coach, Jamaal Shabaaz, did not hold back saying that we must win to keep the dream alive .
Shabaaz paid tribute to the El Salvador team talking about the support they got from their media. He said for the very survival of Caribbean football we must win tomorrow.
One of Guyana’s exceptional sportsmen, Powerlifter, Winston Stoby, is on a mission to win Guyana’s first Gold Medal at the World Powerlifting Championships. In 20 days time he takes to the stage in Kileen Texas where the best lifters in the world will try to out lift each other over seven days.
Stoby has also received financial assistance towards his trip from Mohammed’s Enterprise, to whom he expressed gratitude.
Earlier this year Stoby set new Caribbean Commonwealth and World records in the deadlift. That record was later broken but on the local scene, he won the Masters Championships, setting a National as well as the World record.
