Guyana’s Golden Jaguars looking to come away from El Salvador with a win
Guyana ‘s Golden Jaguars take on El Salvador in the first leg of their home and away tie in the 2014 Fifa qualifiers. Guyana will be looking to come away from El Salvador with a win since they are the only team in the group without a point. El Salvador has 1 point earned from their draw with Costa Rica earlier this year.
The Jaguars had a short camp in Panama to prepare for their matchup with the El Salvadoreans and arrived in San Salvador sometime on Tuesday.
Coach of the host team, Juan De Dios Castillos, said there are no small teams anymore and if teams are not mentally prepared they could find themselves on the losing end. Castillo says Guyana’s squad is quick and strong and are dangerous in the air. He said his team will be keeping the ball on the ground which will cause Guyana problems.
Guyana will be looking to the experience of Captain Chris nurse and other overseas based strikers; Gregory ‘Jackie Chan’ Richardson, Carl Cort and Vurlon Mills, as well as the experience of defender Charles Lily Pollard. After tomorrow’s game the jaguars return home for the return fixture against the same opponents on Tuesday at the National stadium at Providence.
The organizing committee meanwhile continues to plead with Guyanese to be the real 12th man and support the Golden Jaguars both financially and by being at the stadium.
