City hall workers are continuing to stay off the job as strike reaches day four
City Hall workers are continuing to stay off the job as they press their demands for the adherence to the grievance procedures, the officer’s deposit, which according to the union is being deducted but cannot be accounted for, and protective gear for the workers among other issues.
The Guyana Labour Union’s representative, Clearance Whitehead, said that efforts are being made to resolve the issue at the level of the council and the Ministry of Labour. He said that the Town Clerk’s attitude during this industrial action leaves much to be desired.
Today marked the fourth day of industrial action and citizens can brace themselves for further garbage pile up and disruption to municipal services.
