Qualifications for acting appointment not an issue, says Local Government Minister Persaud.
As the unions continue to express disappointment at the conduct of the acting Town Clerk, Carol Sooba, and question her qualifications and experience for the job, Local Government Minister Ganga Persaud defending her, said that qualifications for any acting appointments is not an issue.
After Town Clerk Yonnette Pluck was sent on leave following allegations of financial irregularities, Sooba was chosen by the Minister without consultation with the council and that has sparked a bitter row with the unions.
And as the union continues to object, Minister Persaud said that the union is in no position to say who the Ministry should employ.
The unions are saying that the Town Clerk is showing disregard for the union’s grievances procedures.
