Fire Chief speaks on challenges of the Fire Service’s fire fighting capabilities
Chief Fire Ffficer Marlon Gentle said non-functional fire hydrants, increasing road traffic and inadequate water supply are some of the major setbacks to the Guyana Fire Service fire fighting capabilities. The Guyana Fire Service has been coming under severe criticism over time but Gentle said that when firemen get to any scene they have to make difficult decisions.
Gentle was speaking during an interview with this newscast. He told Capitol News that so far for this year the Guyana Fire Service has completed their investigations into those major fires and with the exception of the MFK fire which is inconclusive all the others were electrical in nature.
Gentle said that the Guyana Fire Service is committed to the protection of life and property from destruction by fire.
