A late afternoon swim at Uitvligt ended tragically for 14 year old Rondel Ally. According to reports the boy sustained head injuries when he plunged from a koker into the Atlantic Ocean.
Judith Elcock the grandmother of the deceased said that Rondel told her that he was going to visit a friend; she said moments later she was greeted with news of his death.
Rondel recently migrated to Guyana from Antigua after his mother moved to the United States of America.
He was living with his grandmother at number 2 scheme Uitvlugt West Coast Demerara. Elcock said that the death of her grandson came as a shock since she is unaware that he can swim.
Rondel’s body washed ashore later in the afternoon and was taken to a funeral home.
His friend with whom he was having a swim is reportedly assisting the police with their investigations.
