Protests by Cane Harvesters for better pay reached it’s third day

Today marked the third day since cane harvesters from the Uitvlugt estate, De Kendren 80 gang. downed  tools over the price they are paid to harvest cane. The workers are demanding better pay for harvesting the cane, which according to them have many obstacles. They  are also calling for the removal of the field manager who they claim is not looking after their best interests.

The workers also told Capitol News that their working hours were reduced from 10 hours to 6 hours.

The harvesters told Capitol News that the situation is getting worse and are calling  for the intervention of the Agriculture Minister.
