GTUC says all Guyanese should be treated equal regardless of political loyalties
Citizens regardless of political loyalties and association deserve to be treated as equals in this country, that’s the view of the GTUC.
The union was addressing what they see as a double standard approach adopted by the government in dealing with some issues.
The union is calling on its members and affiliates to stand ready to lend support to the struggle in the mining town.
The GTUC said that the civil unrest in Linden is as a result of the failure of successive PPP administrations to acknowledge their right to development.
Many persons in political circles, the trade union movement, NGOs and civic society have publicly condemned the assault on the community by the security forces. They believe that guns will not solve the employment and economic problems facing the community.
