GTUC says riotous assault by the Guyana Police Force must not be repeated
As Lindeners continue to resist those imposed tariff increases, the GTUC says that the riotous assault by the Guyana Police Force must not be repeated.
At a press briefing at the Critchlow Labour College, Union President Norris Witter, blamed the government on both occasions for escalating the problems at Linden.
The outspoken trade unionist called on the government to deliver to the people of Linden an environment conducive to their economic growth and sustenance.
The GTUC believes that violence is not the answer to the many problems facing the community and is calling on the government to meet with the people.
Leaders in Linden have expressed a willingness to continue the talks but the government has put the talks on hold.
