Queens College student tops CAPE in Guyana.
The results from the CAPE are in and Jonelle Jones of Queens College lead the way with 5 grade ones. Five other Queens College students with 4 grade one passes ensuring that Queens College continued its dominance at those exams.
In addition 17 students secured 3 grade ones and more from the top 4 centres as well as the Adult Education Association.
The results were released lat evening online and many students were able to check their scores . The minister of Education at a press conference lauded the efforts of the 740 pupils who wrote the exams noting that there was a 4 percent increase in passes over the 2011 results which was just over 82 % to this year’s 86.4%.
The results also show a stunning 15 % increase in the percentage passes in Physics unit 1 and a 6 % increase in Pure Math when compared to last year results.

Twenty two subject areas were taken this year with a total of just over 3 thousand subject entries. And Minister Manickchand took the opportunity to laud all those who helped to prepare the candidates to achieve what they did.
And the Education minister also announced that from August 16 the CXC will be usingGuyanaas a base to release its results. The results for the CSEC are expected to be released by Friday.
