President’s information Liason Kwame McCoy found Guilty of Assault
The President’s information Liason Kwame McCoy was today found guilty of threatening language and assault. In handing down the ruling, Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry also ordered McCoy to pay fines of $70,000. If he fails to pay that money, he could be forced to spend 4 weeks behind bars.
The charges stemmed from McCoys action during the election campaign when he used threatening language and gun butted a man who objected to him removing posters of the APNU and replacing them with PPP posters on a power pole.
Having been found guilty of those charges, McCoy now faces additional charges of assault after he allegedly tried to run down a woman with his vehicle during another campaign outing last year.
Already the AFC has released a statement saying McCoy ought to be removed from his position at the office of the president and also removed from the rights of the child commission, all owing to him now being convicted.
