Local Government Minister Ganga Persaud says due process has to take its course.
Local Government Minister Ganga Persaud said that while consideration is being given to install an Interim Management Committee to Manage the Affairs of the city due process has to take its course.
The Minister was reacting to questions posted by members of the press as word spread that the ministry was moving to put an IMC in place.
And anticipating such a move City Hall moved to the courts to block the proposed IMC, a move that was described as strange by the minister. But Mayor Hamilton Green at a press conference this afternoon said that the council was elected by the people of Georgetown and that the Govt seemed to be punishing the voters for their choice.
The Mayor was supported by Deputy Mayor at City hall Patricia Chase-Green
Several vendors gathered outside city hall protesting any imposition of an IMC and staff gathered in the compound as they await word on their july salaries.
