Guyana Investigate and prosecute drug bust overseas
Crime chief Seelall Persaud has been talking about the Guyana Police Force’s arrest of persons linked to offences committed overseas. However those arrests seems few and far between, even though convictions were obtained outside of Guyana for drug trafficking and other offences.
The Crime Chief even pointed to prosecutions in the courts.
Added to that a number of fugitives who fled from the US and other Jurisdictions are hiding here in Guyana. Recently Commissioner of Police Leroy Brummell told Capitol News that once a crime is committed overseas and the force has knowledge of the offence then arrest warrants can be issued for the fugitives. The Crime Chief said that information sharing is a major boost to tackling crime. He pointed to a number of conventions Guyana has signed onto.
Guyana has been finding it difficult to combat Narcotics trafficking through our porous borders and the Cheddi Jagan international airport.
