Airport’s squatters have to move
The removal of squatters from around the Cheddi Jagan international airport is one of the obstacles standing in the way of the expansion of the runaway and airport this is according to Minister Robeson Benn.
The Minister of Works and Transport is again sending a warning to the squatters that they have to come off the airport land to facilitate the expansion works.
The squatters told Capitol News that they are willing to move if the Government offers them land and compensation.
According to the Squatters the former housing minister gave them lots so they decided to put up permanent structures.
Minister Benn said that it’s a difficult situation but he is prepared to sit and talk with the squatters.
There are over 400 squatters living around the airport and the recent Caribbean Airlines plane crash exposed the danger they are living under.
