Guyanese flocked the Square of the Revolution to pay tribute to the killed Linden protestors
They came from all walks of life, and it did not matter how they got there. Guyanese flocked the square of the revolution to pay tribute to the three Linden protestors who were killed by the police. Opposition leader David Granger said that the party stands in solidarity with the people of Linden. He said what happened at Linden is a crime against humanity.
Granger was speaking at the rally on the day of mourning in observance of the brutal shooting death of protestors last Wednesday. PNC/R leader Robert Corbin said that the government over the years has broken all the promises made to the opposition. He pointed to the communique with then Leader Desmond Hoyte that was never implemented. Corbin urged the people of Linden to keep up the struggle.
APNU executive Desmond Trotman said that the police could not have acted without the permission of the government. While PNC/R GYSM member Nester said the death of the Lindeners should not go in vain.
Lindeners are continuing to apply pressure on the government to rethink those tariff increases imposed on them.
