Symposium looking at ways to address the challenges of the city’s garbage problem

The disregard for the rule of law, the court expediting littering cases and the business community playing a lead role in the disposal of garbage were some of the issues raised at a symposium hosted by City Hall Today.

While acknowledging that a collective approach is needed to restore the garden city to its former glory, citizens and members of the business community believe that persons have to be held accountable.

Piles of garbage are appearing everywhere and City Hall is struggling to clean it up, the council is saying that its cash trapped.

City mayor Hamilton Greene said that the council has played its part to prosecute persons caught littering, but the court he said needs to expedite the cases.

Currently an investigation is on the way at city hall after reports of financial irregularities.
