New campaign by the traffic department to remove those mag-rims from mini-buses.
A new campaign by the traffic department to remove those magrims from mini-buses is not going down well with operators.
Today some drivers defended their right to use mag rims on their minibuses. Some of them told us that the rims give the vehicle more balance. The police say it is not safe.
According to the drivers the police are refusing to issue fitness for the vehicles until the original small rims are placed on the vehicles. Some drivers told us that in most cases the vehicles are imported with the magrims.
The Guyana police force traffic department is trying everything within their power to reduce the lawlessness on our road, but mini-bus operators are saying that they are always targeted first. It is unclear what is the real reason behind the mag rim ban on mini buses.
