The Guyana National Drama festival committee is hoping to use this year’s festival as a breeding ground to further develop the arts through the national drama school.
Festival Director Godfrey Naughton said the event is more than just a celebration but a way to bring drama alive once more throughout the country.
On Tuesday the Digicel and the Guyana National Drama Festival committee inked a memorandum of understanding since the company is one of the major sponsors this year.
The company’s Marketing Director Jacqueline James said the festival is a platform to nurture upcoming performers to develop their talent.
This year will be the second National Drama festival which is seen as a way to promote and improve play-writing and every aspect of theatre production. The deadline for this year’s entries is august 31.
