Angry council workers approached Office of the Town Clerk demanding word on their salaries
Angry and dissatisfied city council workers this morning approached the office of the town clerk demanding word on their salaries for the month of June. This latest development comes days after the police were called in to investigate allegations of financial irregularities at city hall. The workers told capitol news that the council is getting overbearing and spoke of the financial constraints they are placed under.
The disgruntled workers decided to stay off the job and protested inside the council headquarters. City mayor Hamilton Green pleaded with the workers.
The workers are being represented by the Guyana Labour Union and General secretary Carvil Duncan called for the removal of the council’s administration.
The town clerk and the union met today and an agreement was reached which should see workers receiving their salaries.
