APNU responds to Prime Minister Hind’s justification of electricity hike in Linden.
The APNU has responded to the Prime Minister’s position on the issue of the hike in electricity rates in Linden. At a press conference held at the APNU headquarters on Hadfield Street on Thursday 5th, APNU’s executive member Lance Carberry said that the government wants citizens that are connected to the national grid to believe the rates they are currently paying is because the governemnt has to subside power for Linden. The opposition believes it is a mischievous attempt to create division.
The APNU is of the view that the hike in the electricity rate can only be justified when issues affecting the residence of the mining town are addressed.
Linden residents for years have complained about the steep rate of unemployment and the apparent neglect of the government to create economic development for the community.
The APNU has also been pointing out that the Prime Minister Samuel Hinds ever since he worked at Linden never paid for electricity in his life.
