Linden Electricity a National Issue.
President of the Guyana Trade Union Congress, Norris Witter, believes the issue of the Linden electricity rate increases is of national importance.
At a protest action by political Activists today outside of the Office of the President, Witter said that other communities will suffer a similar fate if citizens continue to condone such actions by the Government.
Trade Unionist Lincoln Lewis called on the residents of Georgetown to join in the fight since he believes that the electricity tariffs in Georgetown are simply too high.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds in a face off with Political activists only yesterday defended his government’s position to increase the tariffs in Linden.
On the Other hand Residents of the Mining town continues to hold out that they simply cannot pay those increases, which were expected to come into effect from July 1st.
