The minster seems upset at the former Police chief after Felix questioned the purchase of the water cannon at this stage rather than improving the equipment used by the Guyana police force to deal with the changing nature of crime. The minister in defense of the cannon said that it all has to do with the modernization of the force.
In his brief remarks commissioner Leroy Brummell said that with the upgrading of police stations across the country, the behaivour and conduct of the ranks in the discharge of their duties must also be upgraded. During the modernization of the police stations which falls under the citizen security program special attention was paid to treating with the issue of domestic violence with more confidence and seriousness .
Both the commissioner and the minister have tasked the ranks of the Guyana police to strive to achieve more success in the fight against crime.
