Linden Residents Protest outside Parliament.

Residents of  Linden today continued to vent their dissatisfaction of the new electricity rates.  The protest moved today to outside the Parliament Buildings.

With the unemployment rate in Linden among the highest in the country Regional Chairman Sharma Solomon, called on the government to justify the increases.

In the National Assembly, Prime Minister Samuel Hinds in a statement sought to justify the increases.

Back outside AFC member of Parliament Moses Nagamootoo  said the government should listen to the people.

From July 1, residents of Linden will face new electricity rates as the government moves to bring the bauxite town onto the national grid. For years Linden has produced its own electricity and has never been dependent on GPL.
