Team Guyana opened their campaign in the Guiness street football challenge with a thumping 5-nil victory over Antigua. Daniel Favourite and Bertie Pedro each scored doubles and Vincent Thomas scored the other. In the opener St Vincent squeezed out a 1 nil result over St Lucia .
The Guyana was excited with the win and said they will not be taking the other teams lightly.
Five games will be played this evening and the top 4 teams will then make up the semi-final lineup which will kickoff tomorrow starting at 7.
The winners pocket 4000 us dollars ,the runner up 2000 third place 1500 and fourth place 1000.After the finals which will cost 1000 to get in fans will be entertained by Jamaican Dancehall artiste Bugle.
And on the heels of the guiness street challenge footballers will have another opportunity to match skills in another tournament. starting on Tuesday.
Keeping your five alive is the name of the tournament being promoted by Kevin Adonis of Adoni productions and in this tournament of 40 teams, either win or go home.
Adonis said he hopes the interest generated by all the football being played will promote interest in the tournament.
Matches will be played on the National Park’s Tarmac and the East Ruimveldt Community Centre ground and will be on 26 june and fron the 3rd of july till 3rd of August. Admission to the games is free.
