Speaker says President got bad advice.
Speaker of the National Assembly Raphael Trotman believes the President may be the victim of bad advice. The speaker was making specific reference to the President’s recent statements that he will not sign any bill that does not enjoy the support of his party. The joint opposition parties hold the majority in the National Assembly.
Trotman in the past has said a constitutional crisis looms if the government continues to move to the courts to have the court intervene in the work of the national assembly. As for the work of the assembly over the past few months, he said a lot was accomplished even as more should have been done.
Today the parliament hosted a meeting for its members on public accounting and the work of the public accounting committee. How that committees work should be done and the monitoring of the use of public funds.
