AFC taken aback by the President’s action

As Linden prepares for the expected electricity increases the alliance for change believes that those increases can create a crisis and can lead to demonstrations in the mining town.

The APNU is preparing to table a motion in the national assembly on the electricity rate increases in Linden, but with President Donald Ramotar saying he will not sign into law any Bill brought to the National Assembly by the opposition without input from the Executive. The AFC chairman believes that the Government wants to take the parliament to the edge to regain political support.

Lindeners are already rejecting the July 1st increases and vow to take action to have the government re-consider its position. Linden has been plagued by large scale unemployment for decades every since the decline of  the bauxite industry.
