St Joseph high school teachers stage sit in protest over several issues affecting them.
Teachers of the St Joseph high school today were on a sit in protest over several issues affecting them at the school. The issues range from the poor condition of the toilet facilities, the garbage pile up in the yard, leaking roof in the staff and classrooms, poor lighting and in some instances expose electrical wires, poor drainage of the school compound, to the deplorable state of the playing area of the yard.
This newscast was told that the industrial action was prompted after several attempts to get education officials to look into their concerns failed.
Sources told capitol news that one of the problems was having one cleaner to clean the entire school which has 600 students on record. Added to that a source said that teachers and students on a daily basis would do their own cleaning.
A visit by education official this morning resolved some of the grievances of the staff another cleaner was immediately installed, the garbage was removed and work has commenced to rectify the electrical problems at the school.
