Police Conference opens for Senior Officers.
Senior officers of the Guyana police force gathered today at police headquarters for a training conference which focuses on strengthening their effectiveness and efficiency. The training conference comes just days after acting police commissioner Leroy Brummel and Crime Chief Seelal Persaud were both confirmed as deputy police commissioners. They were both assistant police commissioners. Their appointment came late Friday following a meeting between the president and the opposition leader.
At the opening of today’s meeting, deputy commissioner Persaud told the officers gathered that there was that need for policemen to always develop their skills and senior officers should always take the lead.
Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee told the officers gathered that it was important for them to pay close attention to management since it plays an important part in the force especially for senior officers.
The University of Guyana School of Professional Development facilitated the training programmes.
Meanwhile there are reports that the home affairs minister would like to see more of the senior officers out on the road doing work and not just in their offices. There are reports that a document to that effect was dispatched to some senior officers of the force.
