Guyana Jaguars rugby team blanked Trinidad’s Calypso Warriors

And it was all the men in green and Gold as the Guyana Jaguars  rugby team blanked Trinidad’s Calypso Warriors  20-0 in the finals of the  southern zone finals of the North American and Caribbean  Regional Qualifiers for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.  Coach Theodore Henry said that even though they expected a tough Game they always backed themselves.

Team Captain Ryan Gonsalves said they were well aware of the weaknesses of their opponebts which they exploited to the max .

Guyana now awaits the winner of the of the North Zone between Bermuda and The Cayman Islands. That game takes place  next Saturday.

The loss by Trinidad drew scating comments from the Trinidad media criticizing them for  failing to place enough importance on theis game.

Earlier in the year the soca boys football team were on the end of similar criticisms when they were beaten by Guyana’s Golden Jaguars for a place in the 3rd round  qualifiers of the 2014 World Cup.

Boxing fans will be in for a treat this weekend as the GABA runs off  an U16 tournamament and some 60 boxers from  9 gyms across the country will be matching gloves with each other.

The venue: The tarmac next to the  Andrew Sixhead Lewis gym .

Coach Lennox Poole said that the Association is paying special attention to the U16 boxers since that is where the future of Boxing lies. He was loud in praise of DDL for helping them to realize this dream. DDL will be sponsoring 3 tournaments for this year.

And DDl’s Alexis Langhorne said that programmes like this one will ensure the boxers are meaningfully occupied and DDl is always ready to lend its support.
