Persons with disabilities, Society for the blind held an awareness activity outside Parliament

Persons with disabilities  along with Members of the Society for the blind today held an awareness activity  outside of Parliament buildings here in Georgetown.

Even with the threat of a possible down pour they  carried their Placards displaying Issues affecting those that are physically challenged .

One Board member of the Society for the blind, Ganish Singh said that they  want  the discrimination to stop and for the policy makers to ensure that the disability act is implemented in order to assist persons living with disabilities.

Various activities are carried out during the Disability Month and throughout the year to sensitize the public  but President of the Society for the Blind, Cecil  Morris said that this is a continuous process which has gotten better over the years.

Morris also that people can show more concern for the blind by being courteous.

There has been a call for government  and corporate Guyana to fund  the  society   for the  blind to assist disabled persons.
