Police Investigating Suspected Kidnapping
Police investigators are probing a suspected kidnapping of a city businessman who was reportedly snatched while he was disembarking his vehicle in Stone Avenue early this morning. Initial reports indicate that the Brazilian businessman who owned the Pure Diamond Company was held up at gunpoint by men wearing police like clothing, he was placed into a vehicle which sped away from the area. They are reports that the men also took away the businessman’s firearm.
Capitol News understands that the man was released later in the morning a short distance from the police outpost along the Linden Soesdyke highway. They are reports that the man was found with his hands and feet tied. They are reports that he also sustained injuries about his body.
A source told capitol news that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom which was expected to be dropped off at an area on the seawall but that plot was quickly foiled after the police and a private security firm were called in after one of the employee who came to the business to collect the cash accidentally set off the alarm of the business. The disappearance of the businessman was reported and a search by the law men immediately commenced.
When this news cast got to the scene the workers at the location were not talking about the incident this morning. Pure Diamond Company has being operating for several years in Guyana. A few years ago the Company was robbed of several million dollars by armed bandits. An investigation is underway by the police into the matter.
