PPP Continues to Disown Ed Ahmad
The Peoples Progressive Party’s Presidential candidate continues to deny any linkage with recently arrested Guyanese and Queens Businessman Ed Ahmad who is facing mortgage fraud charges in New York .
AFC has accused the PPP/C’s presidential candidate Donald Ramotar of trying to divert attention away from the PPP’s established connection and relationship with Ahmad.
But the PPP’s Presidential Candidate at a press briefing today describes the connection made by the opposition party as a total fabrication and a downright lie.
As the PPP continues to distance itself from Ed Ahmad this invitation seen here suggest otherwise since he was listed as one of the contact persons for a public meeting held in New York on April 29. The flyer was sent out by the Guyana consulate in New York. While Ramotar denies knowing the number of Ahmad, the man’s number is on the flyer.
Ahmad is on a US 2.5 million dollar bond and subjected to electronic monitoring and cannot leave the state of New York. He was recently denied a bond modification to travel to Guyana. In his application, Ahmad claimed that he is a close friend of President Jagdeo and sent 29 tons of supplies to State House.
The US-based Guyanese businessman also said he is a supporter of the party. He recently opened a hardware store that was previously the PPP’s mirror building at Industrial site. Ramotar has been for years the General Secretary of the PPP which controls the Mirror and the Party’s properties.
