Garbage out of Control in the City
With a major garbage problem facing the city persons within the Bourda area and the market are uncertain about when garbage will be collected in that area. Some businesses and residents have resorted to dumping their garbage by a site that is usually cleared by City Hall on Orange Walk Bourda.
But now the practice has resulted in the street between North road and Robb Street being taken over with garbage. It has been one week since the garbage collectors withdrew their services which has resulted in garbage heaps all around the city.
Some concerned citizens are of the view that City hall is not doing enough to get the garbage situation under control.
Meanwhile, some business persons within the area said it is not the first time that persons have been throwing garbage on the street but noted that now it is the worst.
Those who are being affected by the current garbage situation are hoping that both the Local Government Ministry and City Hall can come together and develop an action plan to tackle the garbage crisis. The Central Government has traditionally withheld funds from the city and later on complain that City Hall is not managing the little funds it has properly.
