Rohee VS Granger over Road Carnage
The Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee is saying firing off at APNU presidential candidate David Granger who recently lashed out at the government for not doing much to ease the carnage on the roads. In a statement to the media the minister said that It appears that the sole aim of Mr. Granger’s ranting is to mislead the public into believing that the Government is doing nothing to deal with the traffic situation. The minister went further by saying that Granger is attempting to score some cheap political points.
But the fact of the matter is that there seen to be no slowing down. Just two day ago another person loss their live and several persons were injured, bringing the figures to over 6 persons after the pass week.
However the minister noted that the administration overtime has being working on road improvement infrastructure and the strengthening the legislative framework for road use.
Many believe that there are some errant police traffic officers who are contributing to the process.
The commissioner of police recently has put those errant traffic officers on notice that they will be given marching orders if they are caught. To curb the carnage Guyana Police Force launched “Operation Safeway”. “Operation Safeway” aimed at strengthening enforcement of traffic regulations.
The police are saying that that operation has seen more persons charged and place before the court on various traffic offences. The minister said that government is deeply concerned about the wanton loss of lives on the road way.
