Commonwealth Civil Society Plans For Australia Meeting

Representatives from the Caribbean regional civil society are meeting here in Georgetown as part of a two day consultation to address developmental concerns within the region.

Participants over a two day period will be developing recommendations that will form part of a Commonwealth civil society platform.

Commonwealth Civil Society Advisory Committee, Deputy Chair, Shantal Munro-Knight said discussions will be centered on critical issues such as Governance and Democracy, Human Rights, Climate Change, Culture and Identity.

The Deputy Chair noted that the outcome from the consultation will be forwarded to the Commonwealth Heads of government meeting that is slated for October in Australia.

The consultation is being facilitated by the Caribbean Policy Development Centre with support from the Commonwealth Foundation.
