School Uniform Project to Start Next Wednesday
On Wednesday the government is expected to roll out its annual school uniform assistance programme. The programme caters for all students from nursery to secondary schools. Private schools are not part of the programme.
The government in its budget this year allocated some 300 Million Dollars towards the programme. According to a release from the Education Ministry the allocated sum will cover the implementation of the programme countrywide.
The uniform assistance is geared at ensuring that every child particularly those in vulnerable financial circumstances are not deprived the opportunity of attending school.
Each voucher is valued fifteen hundred dollars and could be redeemed at selected stores such as Rayon House of fashion on Robb Street in exchange for school uniform material.
The distribution process will start on June 22 and a relative could uplift the voucher in the absence of the parent once an identification card or the child’s report card is provided.
Parents are being remained by the Education Ministry to take advantage of the programme since the vouchers are only redeemable for a particular period before school reopens.
