Lethem Facing Some Bad weather
The Ministry of Agriculture’s Hydro-meteoro-logical Service is describing the current weather condition in Lethem region 9 as an extreme event.
Several sections of the community are currently under water as the rivers and banks over flow after persistent and heavy rainfall in the area over the weekend. The HydroMet office, Hydrologist, Garvin Cummings said for the next seven days the region will have to brace itself for more rainfall.
Cummings noted that the last time the Southern part of Guyana has experienced such weather condition was in the late 1980’s. He stated that the HyrdoMet office is currently monitoring the current situation.
According to the local weather authority, for Lethem overcast conditions are expected with slight showers that can be intense but short for the next few days.
