Private Sector Behind Whoever Wins General Elections
The business community has announced that is prepared to fully support whichever political party that wins the upcoming general election.
Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Ramesh Dookhoo said the private sector has no political interest to support or defend any political party. He was at the time addressing the closing of a luncheon by the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) on Wednesday.
But the GMSA will always have an interest in the development of the country. Dookhoo said politicians should engage in intense competition without aggression and hostility. The Chairman believes that the campaigns should be based on facts in an effort to assist voters to make wise decisions on polling day.
The Private Sector Chairman urged the losers of the election to accept defeat peacefully and called on the business community to not exclude themselves from assisting in the further develop of the country.
Duookhoo also reiterated that the private sector endorses the work of the Ethnic Relations Commission along with the Guyana Elections Commission and stands ready to support and assist such bodies.
