Doctor Comes Home to Find His Wife Dead in a Pool of Blood
Police investigators today questioned prominent city doctor and head of internal medicine at the Georgetown Hospital, Dr Rushundar Doobay as the investigations got underway into the murder of his wife 58 year old Monica Doobay.
The woman’s lifeless body was discovered late yesterday afternoon by her husband Dr Doobay when he returned home from work. She was found lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood. Her head appeared to have been bashed in and there were also similar injuries to one of her hands. Whatever may have used to inflict the fatal injuries was not found at the scene of the crime, one source close to the investigations said.
According to reports, Dr Doobay told investigators that when he returned home yesterday afternoon and called out for his wife. There was no answer. He left and returned and again there was no answer. Sources say it was then that he decided to climb and remove some louvre panes from one of the windows to the upper flat of the house to gain access. It was then that her body was discovered.
A number of government officials and medical officials gathered at the scene of the murder last evening to offer their support but some investigators are not too happy about that since they believe there may have been serious contamination of the scene with the steady flow of persons in and out even as the investigations were being conducted.
Reports indicate that neighbors and security in the area are expected to be questioned about whether they heard or saw anything strange. The area is home to a number of government officials and senior public servants and police security is present at several homes.
Relatives and friends of the dead woman say they are shocked by her passing and the way she met her death. Persons in the area said they last saw her alive in the early afternoon.
